It's funny when coincidences happen. Except that I've come to realize they aren't really coincidences. Rather it is us connecting to an underlying energy we are all a part of. Every thing, all of the matter we see, when reduced to its simplest form is all the same. The same energy connected to one universe. I always knew this, but yet I only recently grasped a deeper understanding when I picked up my aunt's book called the Secret. (It's a simple read and you can skip around instead of reading front to back).
I thought it was some mystery novel with the cover, but she said, "Go ahead and take it and read it. It's really helping me alter my perspective on life." I thought perfect, just what I am always looking to read about! It was about midnight by the time I got back to the apartment and I was getting ragged on to go to bed, but I couldn't help peeking at one page at least. Of course I open up to the page about "the secret to eating" (my obsession in case you haven't noticed). And the words in the text were interesting...
So when we look at our bodies we should realize that they are perfect right now and will always be perfect because our bodies are just particles, part of a greater movement. We should learn to listen to our vehicle and determine when it needs an oil change. And I mean really listen. I don't think we've been taught how to do this. When you eat a meal, could you recall the next day the order of the foods you ate, the texture, the preparation? I think this mindlessness has cultivated a disrespect to our bodies in the fact that we stuff our faces unconsciously and then fail to evaluate how we feel. When we look in the mirror, we have to come to clear terms with what we want. And we have to place this desire in our mind alone and repeat it.
That is the Secret. The Secret to life, wealth, relationships, whatever we want. If we want something and we focus on it solely again and again and again we are reaching out to the universe and as physics have taught us "like attracts like": what we are asking for so powerfully, so determinedly, we will receive. And trust me, it works. Think about those successful businessmen we know who only had one thought while making their way up the ladder: they were going to get there. And they did. The mind is a powerful tool we have not been taught to utilize correctly. Think about the placebo effect. We have it because our minds do have the ability to heal with positivity and concentration. We don't need to fully rely on medicine!
We need to remember we are in a magnetic world where if we send the universe something repeatedly, we will receive. I think it is important to remember when asking for something not to do it negatively because if like attracts like we are then attracting negativity instead of what we want. Think about this: if we are all about anti-war we actually promote war by bringing an awareness to it and remembering how bad it is and all that surrounds it and making people around us upset. But, if we are pro-peace, we suddenly see ourselves surrounded in a happy group of people determined to spread a message of equality throughout the world like Mother Teresa. When we surround ourselves in positive energy and bring it to the table, we can easily change the mood. Think about parties where everyone feels great and the energy is full and we just absorb it like a sponge and get that so-called "party-high".
This isn't some mumbo jumbo phenomenon. The Secret works. And I've actually done it before I read the book, just unconsciously. One day I woke up and was going about my regular activities, I went to yoga and then headed to the golf course after. But throughout the day this desire for eggplant baked in tomato sauce kept coming back. And it was odd because I hadn't had that dish in maybe 8 or 9 months. But I really wanted it. I was craving it so badly. Worse than any craving I had gotten in awhile. I thought about the dish and I was salivating on the golf course. And this happened several times. I couldn't get it off my mind. I really wanted and was determined to have it. But my rational mind knew it wasn't a possibility because my yiayia was cooking some broccoli and my dad was grilling for dinner tonight. Still I couldn't push it from my mind. Well I got home and walk in the door and remembered we were having some friends over. I walk to the kitchen and there is a giant baking tray covered in foil. I flip back the foil and what do you know, it is the most beautiful looking eggplant dish. I almost cried! My dad's friend said," Oh yea, I made it yesterday and had so much left over I decided to bring it last minute." I couldn't stop thanking her and literally ate half the baking tray to fill this spiritual craving I had.
So I believe the Secret works. We just have to believe in our convictions whole-heartedly and not let anything get in our way. If we want to get a good grade and have that motivation and our positive mind, it will come. We just can't have any second thoughts and need to be constantly feeding the universe that one thing we want (in positive terms). So instead of saying to ourselves,"I want to be skinny like her" we should say," I want to be healthy for myself." and with this thought we will reach it. Because we will be aware of when a certain food doesn't make us feel healthy and abstain from it and naturally by listening to our bodies we will give it what it needs when it is the right time whether exercise or food. We shouldn't force ourselves to eat when we aren't hungry or workout when we are tired or even to work when our minds our elsewhere. Instead by allowing our bodies to breath, it will bring about a better overall focus. When we eat it should be an enjoyment just like exercise (even walking!) should make us feel amazing. And whenever someone else talks negatively about our goals or even their own health, I think we should help them by changing the subject to some thing positive. Because by concentrating on the negative it is holding in the energy instead of releasing it to accept a better solution.
People who our told they have a fatal illness can take two paths: either they can accept death or they can forget the negative and only focus on positives all the time-- great times, family, friends, pets, hilarious movies and appreciate all the positivity in their life. The positivity from their previous years will recycle and restore and they will get better.
I think eating and food is such an issue in our world today because we address it negatively in terms of eating disorders and being "fat". If we embrace ourselves and others positively for how we are in our current state and focus on our healthy desire to be well, we can get there with others.
Since I've read this book, I have returned to listening to my body and loving my vehicle for everything I've been given. Maybe I am short, but I am also super-flexible. By focusing on the positives in ourselves we don't have time to envy others. Listening to ourselves is a full-time job. When we wake up in the morning, we should think about our sleep quality and assess if we feel like eating. Instead of being robots we should ask ourselves,"What do I want to do today? What does my body feel like doing?" It could be something as spontaneous as walking to work or trying an espresso for the first time ever.
By clearing out the clutter and putting one specific desire in our mind it realigns us with that deeper energy we are all a part of, but have so forgotten in our every day lives. So now you know my Secret. It isn't really a Secret. The ability to get everything we want has always been there many of just don't realize the power we contain.
What is your Secret? Have you ever experienced a moment of "coincidence" or success like mine when you are fully determined?
