Jumping back towards the discussion, though, I also utilized my time outside and being alone to gain a greater sense of consciousness this week. Sometimes we have to go with our instinct and force ourselves to do the activities we don't want to do because deep down we know they are better for us. This proactive attitude is what can make a difference in our perspective for the rest of the day or really our life. So on Friday morning, I woke up at 5:45 am just by chance and felt wide awake. My body yearned for me to stay in my warm bed, but my mind wanted me to get outside and embrace the darkness. So I did! I grabbed my brother's bike, and fell over into the bush trying to get on it because it is so darn high! I biked down to the beach and watched a beautiful pastel pink sunrise. It was a relaxing and reflective time.
Getting outside is exhilarating in this crisp air. There is so much to do in the Fall weather and we really don't utilize it. Last weekend, my family and I took the opportunity to go pumpkin picking. It has been a tradition in our family for 8 years and it is really an enjoyable activity, full of teamwork too! We end up using the 200 pumpkins we pick to decorate the front of our house.
Maybe you are lucky enough to have a waterfront like me or you have cascading mountains to your back. Either way, put on your hiking boots and take a trek outside, bundled up in a wool scarf and Patagonia (No I own neither of those clothing items!). It would be unfortunate to miss such a beautiful, changing season as Fall. Its colors are beckoning us outside to be observed. Go! Relax!
On another note, I apologize for my lack of posting. I have been smashed with school, but as I previously have stated, I am really going to try to make an effort to keep updating you on my life and what I keep learning each and every day. This weekend I was in San Francisco with my father, which was an amazing and life-altering trip all on its own. I cannot wait to share with you my experience and the pictures tomorrow! For now, have a nice evening, and think about giving yourself a break and getting outside for once. I know we have that work to do indoors, but sometimes getting outside is actually productive to us being more efficient with our work later. Think about it on your walk and let me know what you think :).
